To say the past month has been crazy is like saying that Jack in Stephen King's classic,
"The Shining" is having a rough day...
My Great-grandfather Claude, the one who inspired parts of Carolina Spirit, the one who tried to talk Gracie into planting a peach pit in the crotch of a tree. He used to tell me, 'A person isn't worth a damn until they've been tested to their limit. When they brush off the dirt and have something good left in them, that's character.'
Have to say I didn't understand the lesson, but I am guessing everyone reading this certainly does.
Life is never easy, but feeling the engine hum on cruise control. That might be the sweetest spot of all.
Our Kilimanjaro trek that we've been training for since last November and the Africa photo safari has officially been postponed until at least next year. There are too many reasons to list and before now, I couldn't even deal with casually talking about it.
I've been living, working, writing and existing between two cities.
One I love, and one I don't.
It's not one particular thing. That feeling of belonging can be so elusive, but deep down you either feel it or you don't.
Who knows what comes next? I hope the dust finally settles and we can hit rewind with some lessons woven in.
I've been writing whenever I can. Meeting up with the fabulous, fictionista Cathy Maza for lunch and community downtown Savannah recently was so incredible. Blows my mind that we met on Twitter. Actually... almost everyone I talk to these days, I did.
How cool is it to go from an app. to real life meet-ups and friendship!
Collaborating with film director, Tony Bianchi of IOscape Studios on the book to film project, I Luv U Lucy. We have a rapp session and editorial meeting once a week to keep looped and push the awesome project forward. Seriously this novel is dark, unsettling and jam-packed full of mystery.
Yesterday for the first time, I was able to enjoy my colleague and co-writer (Veronica Cline Barton's) fabulous stories that will be part of our annual, award-winning collection called
This year (expected publish date Sep 6, 2022) is Wicked Mist and it is all about mist, fog, steam, and smoke.
How the theme transmitted through the stories is a trip and as in year's past, bizarre, spooky and truly unforgettable.
Thank you to all who have read and supported this imaginative and unique series. We are eternally grateful.

It's free to read on #KindleUnlimited for a limited time, word of mouth and book reviews are very much appreciated. Thank you for supporting this project. I've had some lively conversations about this story. It deals with isolation, the important question of what is real and what isn't and so much more.
How does the future look?
If you are a concerned parent, librarian, educator or concerned human who has noticed that #VR and popular culture driving technology poses a problem with real human connection, please get in touch. Let's talk. I would be thrilled to send you a free copy of MINT and join you in a respectful discussion about my imagined world in 2099 as a guest in your blog, radio show, podcast or book group.
So much happening right now y'all.
Deep breath. Think happy thoughts. Read, watch blockbuster movies, just saw Maverick and now I want to be a naval aviator! Go get some sunshine, take a swim, learn to yodel... just do something awesome in 3-D!
What I am doing to stabilize daily life is centering my mind and realizing that the constant ambush, the daily pivot can wear us down. It can also tell us a lot about ourselves and the people around us. So much pain and sadness in the world right now, mindfully be kind to others and yourself.
Whew!
Propelling the dream forward, are you traveling away this summer?
Recently I have fixated on Cornwall. Mushy peas, cozy cottages, fish pie and walks in the rain wearing Wellies sounds kinda cool. My bucket list is so long.... lol.
Let me know in the comments if you have travel plans and what you're looking forward to!
Please take care out there and if you need a #book to read, please think of me.

Thank you to the Literati, my fantastic subscribers for being an important part of my writer's journey. Summertime cocktails and ceiling fans. Ahhh!

"All heroines, all the time."
Life is like a box of chocolates...for sure, Bibiana! You've handled the turmoil with grace and style and kept that chin up. Your tales for Wicked Mist are brilliant and it's so much fun working with you on this project creatively and others technically. Hard to believe it's been 3 years!!!! I foresee great things in your future... As for travel, I've just about had my fill of road trippin' across CA, ID, and OR, LOL. Heading to Alaska in September, and then, I spy Antarctica. This trip is developing... Keep up the training and climb those mountains GF. xo 💖👑
