The wait is over! "Anonymous," the fifth title in the thrilling Aether Series is here and I’m bouncing off the walls with excitement. This new addition to Aether (Short Stories About The Future) explores a gripping narrative about survival, community, and the worrying effects of our growing reliance on A.I. and other types of invasive technology. I want to share my reflections on the story's powerful themes.

"Anonymous" plunges the reader into a dystopian world that starkly contrasts with our everyday lives. Kinda sorta. I call it cyberpunk, because it's more extreme with tech, and where we are.... as it examines how humanity fights for survival in an unpredictable, digitized environment without centralized leadership or future opportunities. The characters are not just trying to stay alive; they’re grappling with the heavy psychological burdens that technology and lack of resources imposes upon their existence. While writing this tiitle, I found myself questioning the sacrifices we make for digital comfort. This book challenges one to think about what survival truly means when isolation, death or domination is merely a mouse click away.

courage, vision, and focus

One of the standout features of "Anonymous" is its look at technology as a double-edged sword. While characters enjoy the possibilities of better technology, they also face serious consequences and dangers from it. What happens if technology, especially the Deep Fake junk and a virtual world continues to consume our lives?

This story isn't merely a warning; it mirrors the chaos. Dude, I'm a dinosaur. The last generation (Gen-X) to remember what analog actually means. Consider this: a survey found that people in 2025 check their phones an average of 96 times a day. WHAT!?

The narrative powerfully illustrates what we risk losing if we let machines dictate our reality, prompting us to evaluate the balance between necessity, freedom, safety and obsession.

I invite readers to ponder whether we are truly alone in this fast-changing world or if the connections we build can help save us from becoming trapped in a digital universe.

"Anonymous" highlights that our strength does not lie in technology, but in our ability to unite and uplift one another––even if we don't have the same values or day-to-day experiences. The bonds in this story were complex, and often held at a distance. Why? To show us where we are right now. A reflection with no filter. No BS. Through collaboration and support, individuals can achieve recovery and find hope—even when technology or survival feels overwhelming. Community is vital for survival, striking a relatable chord in our current reality. Human relationships and emptional intelligence make this narrative deeply engaging.

As I revised "Anonymous" I pondered the personal impact of technology. The characters also experience inner-conflicts about identity, shedding light on the risks of losing touch with oneself amidst a city in ruins, lack of guidance and the impact of unfulfilled dreams. The recurring question, "Are we on our own?" resonates and will profoundly connect with modern readers. IRL, I was a teenage runaway. I know exactly what it feels like to be in big trouble and I drew upon that time to add a layer of gritty reality to the story.

Observing the characters’ struggles to communicate without Internet, social media or cell phones forced me to think about my technology use and how easily we might ignore someone who's sitting across from us. What happens if we allow ourselves to become more influenced by artificial spaces/tech. and fear the future more than losing our internal compass?

This lingered. It made me freeze it. It made me think.

“Anonymous” serves as a wake-up call about technology’s integral role in our lives and the importance of genuine connections. I'm getting older and can honestly tell you, it's a lot harder to make new friends and even more difficult to find cool people willing to give you a chance.

What do we risk losing? I sincerely hope you find it to be a thought-provoking addition to my speculative body of work.

Immerse yourself in AETHER with,"Anonymous!" Embrace the adventure, and perhaps take a moment to reflect on your role in the ongoing relationship with technology.

Thank you for the love on Instagram the past few weeks, and as always, much appreciation for being Literati, and if you aren't a subscriber, why the heck not? It's free and I post so rarely, my blog might have cobwebs on it. Thank you for supporting my writing journey. I am in celebration mode and after ten years of writing fiction, all I can say is... it's been a wild ride!
