Magic & Wonder

It’s been an extremely long and difficult week for my family. Change the most constant thing of all in life has wreaked havoc on everything and we must rise above new challenges as extreme change has come for everyone. Individual wants and needs are superseded by what is and what isn’t. In essence this is what growing up means to me, it’s one of the toughest lessons and one that even as I know it's always there running in the background, I still fight to accept.

To know that we cannot control or change anything external, except how we react to the knowledge that life is fleeting is a powerful message that always comes when we least expect it to. I refuse to be trite or dismissive, but the summer I turned twenty-five involved burning a navy blue, Perry Ellis dress with brass buttons. It was a bitter season that forced me to see just how difficult it is to move on when we lose our loved ones and to just be who we were meant to be, regardless of how scary it is to keep going.

I stopped listening to my gut and became reactive and broken; because I didn’t want to recognize that the mystery of life had nothing to do with something tangible and everything to do with right now and the precious moment that we are in. It was a tough lesson and one I won't ever forget.

The wondrous spirit of the season arrives in my new, sweet holiday romance, “The Getaway.“ It's available in e-book on Barnes & Noble, Amazon (in paperback as well), Kobo and Apple iBooks. Watch the book trailer on YouTube here.
