Alison was awarded 2016 Author of The Year Award by the Canadian publication 'Diversity Magazine.' She holds an MA in English, with a focus on Children's Literature. Congratulations on both achievements!
Racine : A Sisterhood Story Is hot off the press. Available here now on Amazon.
The cover is drop-dead gorgeous! I cannot wait to get my hot little hands on it! Included is a brief Q & A and also a way to meet Alison in person and listen to her talk about the writing life in London!
Read on and thank you for joining us!
What does it really feel like when you are well into the final creation of your second book?
"It is a good feeling, like a journey is almost over, but another one is beginning,
in terms of promoting the book."
Is there a new wisdom to your writing discipline since you are on book two?
"For me, it’s continuing to be patient with myself, that I can only do so much, in terms of time. It’s important to take care of yourself, staying healthy, and maintaining stamina. Writing a book is like running a marathon--you have to pace yourself."
(I love the last sentence! So true!)
If you could write in one sentence why someone should read this book, what might it be?
"In reading Book Two, which is called Racine, you see the importance of embracing Possibility."
Do you have advice to share with writers who have not finished a project?
"Keep going. Don’t give up. The hard work pays off in the end."
Does your life experience reflect in the wisdom of your characters? A better question is,…is fiction always fiction or is it really truth wrapped in story?
"For some authors, the work that they create is primarily a fictional one. For others, it is more biographical. In terms of my work, it would be somewhere in the middle. "
